Help your garden grow with Blanchard Public Library programs

Even with a little recent snowfall, the calendar shows signs that spring is nearing. That means it’s already time to think about the gardening season.
The Blanchard Public Library will host a Basic Soil Fertility for Homeowners class at 5 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 23, in the Community Room of the library, 205 NE 10th St.
Wes Lee, Extension Educator with the OSU McClain County Extension Office, will lead the class, demonstrating what makes good soil for gardens, flower beds or even lawns.
“This program will be beneficial to all homeowners who have a lawn, flower bed or vegetable garden,” Lee said.
The program is part of a four-part series the library is offering on basic gardening in February and March. Gardeners will get tips and ideas on a variety of topics as they get into the gardening season.
Dates, times and topics include:
March 1, 5:30 p.m. – “Grow Your Own Food”
March 15, 5:30 p.m. – “Backyard Fruit Production”
March 27, 5:30 p.m. – “Orchard to Table, Jams and Jellies”
Registration is required for each of the programs and may be completed at the library or by calling Lori Maederer at 485-2275.
