Norman tweens to read, watch “The Tale of Despereaux”

The Norman Public Library invites ages 8 to 12 to its newest program for “tweens,” Books to Box Office.

This month, the group will meet on three Monday evenings, Oct. 1, 22 and 29, at 7 p.m. in the Story Time Room of the library, 225 N. Webster Ave.

Each month, the group looks at a story that has been presented both as a book and a movie, and compare and contrast the two while reading the book and watching parts of the movie.

This month’s series will focus on the book “The Tale of Despereaux” by Kate DiCamillo, as well as the movie based on the book.

Those interested in participating can come by the library’s Children’s Desk to pick up a copy of the book.

Registration is required to attend the programs.
