Norman celebrates Black History Month with 9th Crowns Tea
The Norman Public Library commemorates Black History Month with the ninth edition of its Crowns Tea Sunday, Feb. 24. Two seatings will take place, at 1:30 and 3:30 p.m., in the Lowry Room of the library, 225 N. Webster Ave.
The Crowns Tea is based on the photo essay “Crowns: Portraits of Black Women in Church Hats,” which celebrates the tradition of the church hat. Guests are welcome to wear their Sunday best and the library always is filled with dozens of colorful hats.
Free tickets are required for the Crowns Tea and may be picked up at the library’s Information Desk or may be reserved by calling 701-2620.
The Crowns Tea is sponsored by the Friends of the Norman Library and the Pioneer Library System.
For more information on the program, or any of the services offered at the Norman Public Library, call 701-2600.
