The Norman Public Library kicks off its Great Decisions 2013 Discussion Series with a presentation by former U.S. Ambassador Edwin G. Corr at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, in Rooms A and B of the library, 225 N. Webster Ave.
Corr was U.S. Ambassador to Peru, Bolivia and El Salvador, as well as the Charge d’Affaires in Ecuador, and the Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for International Narcotics Control. Previous to that service, he was a U.S. Marine Corps infantry officer.
He also is author, co-author and co-editor of five books and is general editor of the University of Oklahoma Press Series in International and Security Affairs.
Great Decisions is the flagship educational program of the Foreign Policy Association and features four programs at the library in February and March. Upcoming presentations in the series feature:
6:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 28 – Dr. Mitchell Smith, Professor and Chair of the Department of International and Area Studies at the University of Oklahoma. His subject is “The Future of the Euro.”
6:30 p.m. Thursday, March 7 – Dr. Rebecca Cruise, Professor at OU. Her topic is “NATO.”
6:30 p.m. Thursday, March 14 – Dr. Suzanne Grillot, Ph. D Dean in the College of International Studies at OU. Her topic is “Threat Assessment.”
An optional Briefing Book which contains all the essays and reading material is available for purchase.
