It’s almost Cinco de Mayo in Purcell, and families are invited to an afternoon of celebration beginning at 1 p.m. Sunday, May 5, at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 316 W. Jefferson St.
The Purcell Public Library and Pioneer Library System are part of the fun in an afternoon of games, activities, crafts and more for all ages as the community celebrates the holiday. There also will be authentic foods from Mexico and Central America for guests to try.
Sponsors for the event include the Purcell Ministerial Alliance, City of Purcell, the Friends of the Purcell Library and the Pioneer Library System.
Cindo de Mayo is a celebration in America and also some parts of Mexico in commemoration of the Battle of Puebla, which took place in 1862.
