February Keep Reading!

Shawnee - Check this out!

Here are some great book ideas to keep reading in February!

Dead Wrong book jacketDead Wrong by Richard Belzer and David Wayne

Have you always thought there was something fishy about the “official report” on the deaths of Marilyn Monroe, John Kennedy, Robert Kennedy, or Martin Luther King, Jr.?  Not only do Belzer and Wayne offer documented facts on these deaths, they also offer plausible scenarios of what might have actually happened.  And not just these four famous people, but the mysterious deaths of military or other political faces.  I have to say the authors have a mountain of evidence that never saw light in the courtroom.  It’s a pretty scary picture.

Shadow book jacketShadow by Michael Morpurgo

When an Afghani boy and his mother are about to be deported back to Afghanistan from England, the boy’s best friend, Matt, and Matt’s grandfather do all they can to keep that from happening.  But it is a dog named Shadow who has the power to make a difference.  This book, geared toward middle school aged children is an excellent springboard for a discussion about how people are the same, wherever they live.

Fifth Assassin book jacketThe Fifth Assassin by Brad Meltzer

What I really like about this series is the secret political intrigue similar to the sigma forces series by James Rollins.  Like Rollins, Meltzer uses actual historical facts and events and weaves them into present-day plots where good and evil forces are in play. In this particular novel, someone is imitating the assassins of the four U. S. presidents killed while in office.  I can’t wait until the next one.
