The Shawnee Public Library invites computer users to step forward in their knowledge with a Computer File Management class, at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 17, in the Computer Training Center of the library, 101 N. Philadelphia Ave.
Participants will learn to create, move, organize, rename, and delete files. The class will practice saving files to different locations and in different formats as well as to and from different types of devices such as cameras and smartphones.

Get started with one of the Internet’s most popular stops at the Shawnee Public Library class “Pinterest for Beginners,” at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 16, in the Computer Training Center of the library, 101 N. Philadelphia Ave.
The class is for ages 18 and up, who will learn about the social networking pinboard Pinterest and all of its functions. This class will give a beginner a start in creating an account and navigating around it.

The Shawnee Public Library, with the aid of the Oklahoma Humanities Council, is going back to the days of the Founding Fathers for the “Let’s Talk About It Oklahoma” book discussion series on the topic “American Icons.”
This will be a four-part series, with discussions taking place at 7 p.m. Thursdays, Sept. 4 and 18 and Oct. 2 and 16, at the library, 101 N. Philadelphia Ave.
Discussions will be led by local scholars, including Dr. Bill Hagen, retired Professor of English at Oklahoma Baptist University; James Farthing, Dr. Trisha Yarbrough, and Dr. Carol Sue Humphrey, Professor of History at OBU.

The Pottawatomie County Literacy Services Department is beginning a series of English as a Second Language classes for new English speakers.
The classes will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Shawnee Public Library, 101 N. Philadelphia Ave.
