Shawnee sets October computer class schedule
The Shawnee Public Library has a little bit of everything for improving your computer skills with its series of basic computer classes, offered throughout October in the Computer Training Center of the library, 101 N. Philadelphia Ave.
Registration is required separately in advance of each class, as space is limited. To register, visit the library, call 275-6353 or go online to the Shawnee calendar .
The October class schedule includes:
Facebook 101, 2 p.m. Oct. 2 – An overview on the social networking website and social media in general.
Brain Games for Seniors, 10 a.m. Oct. 3 – Seniors will spend an hour building brain cells while playing computer games. The class will explore the various sites for interactive brain boosting games such as AARP, Yahoo!, and more.
Getting Started with Email, 10 a.m. Oct. 11 – The class introduces students to email and gives them a chance to create their own email account.
Preparing for the ACT, 6 p.m. Oct. 11 – High school teens can explore several of the library’s online learning databases.
Basic Word Processing, 10 a.m. Oct. 16 – The class is an introduction to Microsoft Word 2010. Some basic computer skills are required.
MS Excel for Beginners, 10 a.m. Oct. 17 – Learn to create and use a basic spreadsheet program. Intermediate computer skills are required.
Desktop Publishing, 10 a.m. Oct. 18 – Learn basic skills with Microsoft Publisher.
Library 101, 6:30 p.m. Oct. 25 – An overview of the library’s catalog and online services.
Getting Social with Books, 2 p.m. Oct. 30 – Explore the website goodreads.com, a place to share book recommendations with other readers.
