Tecumseh to host annual Christmas Gala

SantaThe Tecumseh Public Library will host its 9th annual Old-Fashioned Christmas Gala to kick off the holiday season December 1, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the library and Tecumseh City Hall, 114 N. Broadway.

This annual event brings hundreds of people to the library for children to have a free picture taken with Santa Claus from 10:15 a.m. to noon, to get a free cup of hot chocolate and a cookie, play games, make crafts, get a free balloon animal and shop. Children have a chance to win prizes at the many fun and challenging games being offered such as a book walk, ball toss, bean bag toss, and pin the nose on Rudolph.

Adding to the day are the free wagon rides donated courtesy of C&C Carriage and owner Vince Hall.

Throughout the morning, Rowan Moore will entertain with Christmas music on the piano. The children’s dance troupe, Best Foot Forward of Tecumseh, dances at 10:30. At 11 a.m., the Sharon Baptist Church Youth Handbell Choir returns this year for an encore performance of Christmas carols. The handbell choir is always a treat to hear and watch.  A special reading of “The Night before Christmas” will be presented by State Rep. Josh Cockcroft after the choir’s performance.

Vendors offer many unique and inexpensive items at the Old Fashioned Christmas Store each year. Shop for ornaments, all types of Christmas items, and yummy baked goods offered by many local crafters and businesses. A wide variety of attractive, inexpensive items will be available.

This free library event is offered by the Tecumseh Public Library who partner with the Tecumseh Chamber of Commerce and the Friends of the Tecumseh Library to host the gala.
