Don’t have a clue about the stock market? Investing: 101 can give you insight into the principles of investing. Part of the SmartMoney program at the library, this free workshop will be held Tuesday February 23 at 6:30 p.m. and is meant to empower participants with fundamental information on this timely topic.
Inger Giuffrida, Financial Educator, covers basic financial and money market facts: stocks and bonds, picking stocks and watching their progress, selling and buying stocks, diversification, and risk. Participants will learn the difference between saving and investing, and basic investing tools. How the financial industry is regulated and some facts about Wall Street are also included.
“The Investing: 101 workshop is intended to de-mystify the area of investment and the stock market. Just the topic of stocks alone can be intimidating; so this workshop allows participants to ask questions and get information on how to get started. It is geared toward individuals or families wanting sound financial information, no matter what their current financial status might be,” says Tera McAmis, OutReach Librarian and Specialist for Moore Public Library.
You would not take a road trip without a map and you would not build a house without a blue print. Your financial future is no exception. Learn the basics in this free and timely seminar. Registration is required. This workshop is part of the Smart Money Series offered by the Pioneer Library System and is made possible by the American Library Association and the FINRA Investor Education Foundation.
