It often seems that younger generations are more knowledgeable about current technologies, so the Newcastle Public Library is hosting a “Wii Got Game” event where teens will teach adults how to play Nintendo Wii games on Wednesday, Jan. 27 at 3 p.m.
Both teens and adults can participate in this cross-generational event. Games to be played will be mostly fitness-oriented, such as Wii Fit and Wii Sports. The video game Dance Dance Revolution may also be available. Registration is not required.
“We wanted to host an activity that parents and teens could do together,” Newcastle Public Library Branch Manager Kathie Thomas said. “We’ve done a program with teens and seniors before and that worked out really well, so we wanted to expand on the idea.” |

Christian fiction author Terrye Robins will offer a lively presentation and book signing event with the Brown Bag Lunch Bunch on Thursday, January 28 at 12:30 p.m. at the Newcastle Public Library. All adults are invited to attend to meet Robins and hear about her writing career and her humorous mystery novels. Attendees should bring a lunch and the library will provide drinks and dessert. Books will be available for purchase and autographs.
Robins is an Oklahoman writer whose books Trouble in Paradise, Revenge in Paradise and Justice Paradise combine suspense with humor and romance, and have received rave reviews from readers all over Oklahoma and beyond. These books begin in the charming town of Paradise, Oklahoma, and extend to the sunny beaches of Hawaii. The main character is Allison Kane, who is a teacher by day and detective by night. Her quirky Great-aunt Edith adds spice to the stories with her funny antics and keeps readers laughing.
Robins was born and raised in Oklahoma. After graduation, she moved to Aiea, Hawaii and worked in Honolulu. She served as a pianist and Sunday school teacher at a church in Kaneohe. After returning to the mainland, she married and had two sons.
